This is a list of ideas for things that I’d like to see exist but I have no intention of working on in the foreseeable future. I’m releasing them to the world with the hope that they’ll inspire someone.
Allergy symbols: A standardized symbol or set of symbols to identify possible allergens in food or other products. For inspiration see the fire diamond↗ or hazard pictograms↗.
Auto-wheelie e-bike
Wiki-first forum: Many online communities / forums suffer from posts asking the same questions over and over. FAQs and similar provide some relief, but are often limited due to being maintained by a few admins. What if we had a blend between Reddit and Wikipedia, where the outcomes of discussions are used by community members to continually improve the wiki pages?
Sleeping simulator: A video game where you do tasks during the day to influence what will happen in your dreams. Primary gameplay occurs in sleep with a variety of possibilities based on the day’s actions. Also an opportunity for trippy graphics and plots that don’t make sense.
Slightly random chess: Pick multiple moves and one of them is randomly chosen for your turn.
Concert / event media sharing: At a concert and you wish you had recorded that last song? Well, someone else probably did. There should be a website where everyone at an event can share their photos / videos with each other. Maybe requires proof of tickets to access and is paid for by the event host.
Cartography fantasy book: A story about a cartographer who is trying to create a map of the world. As they travel and learn new things we see pieces of the map created or revised. Perhaps a king claimed to control the whole continent, leaving out the tribes / rebels he’s currently attempting to conquer. Or our cartographer draws a border incorrectly causing war to break out. Were the belligerents friends or enemies? Was it a mistake?
